REC (Recreational Experiences in the Community)
The REC Program, short for Recreational Experiences in the
Community, serves individuals eligible for services through the
Ottawa County Board of Developmental Disabilities. The REC Team
strives to plan many different types of activities to fit a wide
variety of interests, needs, and budgets. Our focus is to
provide enjoyable activities for individuals who want to
integrate themselves in the community while making friends,
being more active, and having fun!
Some activities that the REC Team has done in the past
include zip lining, attending sporting events, sledding, bird
watching, dances, holiday parties, craft nights, game nights,
karaoke, attending theater productions, going to amusement parks,
hiking, camping, bowling, etc. Several of our individuals also
participate in a number of Special Olympic sports including
basketball, bowling, track, and softball.
We schedule activities at various times (day, evening, weekend,
overnight) to accommodate all types of schedules. We do group
activities, small group activities, and drop-in events.
Transportation is provided for some of our events, and costs
vary based on the activity. If you have any questions, give us a
call Carrie at (567)262-3113.
